About Cranial Sacral Therapy

Cranial Sacral Therapy is a method of bodywork that works with the bones of the skull and pelvis and the cerebrospinal fluid in the body.  Cerebrospinal fluid has a pulse of its own, much like a respiratory rate or a blood pulse. In this case, the cerebrospinal fluid's pulse is measured as it coats the brain and spinal cord. Light touches, or holds, are used along the body to adjust the bones of the skull and pelvis as well as induce what is known as "unwinding", a literal unwinding of tight or contracted muscles throughout the entire body.

Because this type of bodywork works with the central nervous system, we are in fact working with the body's inherent ability to heal itself. This means there are many benefits which include physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health and rebalancing.  Some of these include the ability to aide in relieving:

  • headaches, including chronic migraines
  • TMJ Dysfunction or jaw pain
  • back pain
  • ear problems
  • vertigo
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • A.D.D. and A.D.H.D
  • Sensory Processing Disorder (S.P.D.)
  • chronic pain relief
  • relax deeply
  • AND MUCH MORE!

Essentially, your body already knows what it needs to do in order to heal itself.  Cranial Sacral Therapy simply allows the body to be in such a state that it will alleviate symptoms on its own which is what makes this therapy so effective. While using this method of bodywork to target specific symptoms, Cranial Sacral Therapy will balance the body as a whole to bring you to a state of general health and wellbeing.

This method of bodywork is considered to some to be much less invasive than Massage Therapy and is oftentimes more effective with longer lasting results.  Different from Massage Therapy, Cranial Sacral Therapy is performed with the client fully clothed on the table.  Please be sure to wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in, such as exercise clothes.
